The Basics – Learning HTML
HTML isnt a huge mystery but you do have to learn it. You cant just pick it up. The easiest and quickest approach is to do an online class. You go at your on pace and your own time, and they cover anything you need to know.
If you just cant commit to an online class, you may be able to work with an online tutorial. That alone can certainly teach you enough to get started and allows you to move on to more important things like the design of the site. Some people are able to learn HTML just by reading. If you look at the tags on other sites, you can pick up how it works. Youll find many online articles about HTML and they can be really helpful because theyre written in easy styles and dont seem as technical. If you get stuck, find a few HTML faq pages. If youve got the question, then others probably have before you, or go onto discussion boards and ask webmasters.
There are some other things you can add to your list as well. Go sign up for any HTML newsletter. There are several that come out once a week, and it will be a good thing to quickly read when you see it in your mail box. You can always get it from an RSS feed and the new content pops right up. While books are expensive, they are also great to have on the bookshelf. There are a number of good ones and not all are expensive.
The HTML for beginner books like Joe Burns books. Hes good because hes got a sense of humor and teaches classes online.
A knowledge of HTML wont appear by osmosis but with just a little effort youll find it isnt that daunting to learn.
